José Azocar  (Tenor)

Jose Azocar began his studies at the conservatory of the University La Serena (Chile) in 1982. Five years later he entered the Municipal theatre of Santiago where he sung "Il Trovatore" (Ruiz) and "Mephistopheles" (Faustus).

In 1989 he started his international career at the Theatre of Montevideo (Uruguay) by singing Tebaldo in "I Vespri Siciliani", Edgardo in "Lucia di Lammermoor" and Mario Cavaradossi in "Tosca".

Afterwards he appeared in "Madame Butterfly", "Faustus", "The Pearl fishers", "La Boheme", "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Opera House in Miami (USA); "Turandot", "Macbeth", "La Traviata" and "Lucia Lammermoor" in Kaiserslautern (Germany).

In 1994, he acted together with Alfredo Krauss and Edita Gruberova in "Lucia di Lammermoor" (Arturo) at the Palace San Giordi of Barcelona. He also sung "La Boheme" in Pretoria (South Africa) and at the Royal Albert Hall of London, "Rusticana Cavalry" in Klagenfurt (Germany) and "Tosca" and in Copenhagen (Denmark). Followed by a concert tour in Ireland and appearing in the central roll in "Andrea Chenier" in Montevideo.

In 1997 he sung Don Jose in "Carmen" in Kaiserslauten and "Turandot" in Montevideo and also in Glad Porto (Brazil). A year later he was engaged at the Staatsoper Berlin in "Madame Butterfly" and later he appeared in "IL Tabarro" and "Carmen", he completed the season 97/98 by a concert tour in several cities of Chile.

In 1999 he acted at the Teatro de Liceo in Barcelona in "Aída" and also in Lisbon (Portugal). Followed by a production at the Teatro Argentino as Don Jose in "Carmen". He completed this season by taking part in a production at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile.

In the Season 2003 he was seen at the Municipal Theatre of Temuco (Chile) as Prince Calaf in "Turandot" and as Faust in "Mephistopheles", "Macbeth", "Turandot" and "I Pagliacci" in Santiago of Chile.

In 2004 he appeared as Enrico in "Un ballo in Maschera" at the Summer Festival of Schwerin. Between July and August "2004" he has been at the Summer Festival in Montepulcciano (Italy), singing Luigi in "IL Tabarro".

Currently (2005) he is acting in "Carmen" in the Staatstheatre Regensburg (Germany).
